I hope me and my parents survive the encounter with my psychotic brother on Sunday unscathed. The asshole made a dumb mistake that will get his pit bull taken away soon for over a year until he can apply for a permit to keep him. We want to talk to him about solutions (my parents and I are even willing to keep the dog for a while so it won't get taken away completely for now) but my brother is very uncooperative and even threatened to hurt himself, the dog and others before giving the dog up. I'm very prepared to call the police the second he blinks wrong in my parents' or my direction though.

It takes a year to get a permit for a pitbull in your area?

No, he did something that makes him unable to reapply for the permit. You need to refresh it every 4 years(kinda like a driver's license just for certain dogs) and he still has to wait 1 and a half years to be able to reapply.
