Can you give a bit more of a review OP? I really liked Dumplin' and am interested in getting more info Julie Murphy's books. But from the synopses that put me off as there always seems to be some complication or characterisation point that puts me off, more than in other romance novels.

Probably it's my issue - I just really want a specific romance novel set up of a fat character who is insecure about their weight x a super sexy love interest who thinks the fat character is sexy because of, not despite of their body (and none of this neutral 'I love all bodies including yours' nonsense either).

The female MC isn’t insecure about her weight, but does bring up how she’s sometimes treated differently because of it. The male MC does think she’s sexy because of her body shape. The problem is that the male MC just comes off as a horny idiot most of the time and the female MC is only a little better. They’re costars on a Hallmark-esque Christmas movie and the female MC is a porn star who accidentally gets cast in the movie while the male MC is an ex-boy band member trying to rehabilitate his image. The story drags because all they seem to do is fuck each other. There aren’t any actual cute moments, just a lot of super smutty scenes, and they’re pretty repetitive and boring. Plus, despite the fact that they’re both supposed to stay out of trouble to make sure the movie doesn’t attract controversy, they keep making stupid really stupid decisions.

Thanks! From what you've said and reading a bit more about it it definitely seems to be not what I want :( It also sounds like the pacing and structure is way off.

Book covers are really just fucking ugly now, aren't they?

(Anonymous) 2023-01-28 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
A lot of them, sadly. I also wish they wouldn't put "best selling author three times winner winner chicken dinner who also washed their hands last month" on the front. All that's on the front cover word wise should be the title and the author's name.

I'm sorry, he used WHAT for WHAT? I would not expect that in a cutesy rom-com.

It's a romance novel. Unlike movies, even the cutesy ones tend to have smutty scenes.

I remember being damn mad that a book titled the White Album had nothing to do with the Beatles.
