Think of a story you want to write and have a crack at it. It'll probably be crap, but you'll also probably find out a bit about yourself as a writer. Then either rewrite until you like it or try another idea. Repeat ad infinitum.

But yes, find an idea, write it. Accept first drafts will always be dumpster fires with holes.

Also, don't read reviews and accept that not everyone will like what you write. That doesn't mean what you wrote was bad, it just means not everyone likes everything and that's okay.
