Not OP

I must admit I have reader's block. I have not wanted to read much if anything since the beginning of the pandemic, and fiction reading has not appealed to me since my mom's death in 2019.

Try a book of short stories or poems and make it a goal to read one a week or something, maybe? If you want to dip your toes back into reading, I mean. Start small and just see how it goes.

I don't know if I want to get back into reading for at least a year, as least outside of the reading I do for work and my city advisory work. When I unwind, I want to write and write like mad. I finished an 8,000+ freewrite, and now I'm rewriting that same piece from a different character's POV. Given how much I'm enjoying this process, the time for reading for pleasure is minimal (and would feel like even more of a chore).

While it is true that in general reading more improves your writing, that didn't mean that you need to do both concurrently, or that you can't improve without constantly reading. Different seasons and all that.
You do you, OP.
