Re: Old pet appreciation thred
I have four senior pets in the house at the moment:
Baxter - my dumb but sweet cat who basically hasn't changed at all since we got him at age 4, he's now like... 15-16 I think? Literally no difference whatsoever.
Sage - my littlest bun, she had a bout of stasis a month ago but pulled through and was fully recovered just in time for me to feel okay about going to MAGFest. She is a little diva as always, but bright-eyed and happy to stand up and greet me first thing in the morning. Everyone's like "she's a senior?!" because she's a dwarf and has the round baby face and big eyes, but yeah, she's about 9.
Oscar - the bun with head tilt due to a bout of EC that they thought would kill him because he was already somewhere around 7-8 years old... that was almost two years ago. Pretty much the only difference now is the head tilt and he doesn't do parkour off the baby gates anymore, but can not only stand on his hind legs but WALK on them, and he runs over to get hugs every morning as soon as I get out of bed.
Logan - also somewhere in the 8-10 range (when almost all your pets were rescued as adults, hard to tell) is slightly worrisome. The vet felt a large hard mass near/in his kidney at his checkup a couple weeks ago, but the bloodwork came back almost normal, and he's acting totally normal, so we're going to check again this Friday. In the meantime I'm going to make sure I enjoy what time we have together.
