I wish I had the strength and skill to do the same, OP! It strikes me that bookbinding is one of the nobler arts (ex-bookseller here) and your treatments of fanfic writers' works will last for centuries, perhaps. Far outlasting the current wobbly platforms, anyway. Maybe you can even pass on your skills in bookbinding classes! I say go for it, and go for it bigtime.

Not everyone is struggling. It's just that people who aren't struggling don't talk about how we're not struggling, because we don't want to make anybody feel bad about being broke.

(Though a lot of people in fandom are young/students and don't have careers yet, which is partially why they're broke. I was broke until I was 25.)

I get where you're coming from, but people deserve nice things. When I was unemployed I didn't begrudge my friends from buying new (expensive) stuff. Hell, I occasionally treated myself to something nice. You're not a billionaire buying his 37th yacht, profiting from underpaid workers. You're a normal person having fun. Enjoy yourself! I'm honestly so sick and tired of seeing petty, jealous children shit all over other people who dare to have money to spend on non-essentials that make them happy.

This sounds like such a nice thing to do for yourself, such a sweet gift to yourself!

I'm usually cheap, sometimes broke, and not a big fan of having just to have, but it's a nice thing to do for yourself. You're clearly going to enjoy it, I'm getting excited just thinking about it and wish I could do the same (please link the book binder if you like the results??)!!

Ultimately, you decide what to do with your money. You're free to spend it on whatever you want. People will drop $300 on a Michelin star meal. It's what matters to YOU. And you don't have to tell others you're doing this. It sounds like something you cherish. I'm just really happy for you, OP! Enjoy your fic!

As someone born and raised in the US away from my parents' motherland, I think it's great for you to want to write a story based in your parents' cultural history.

IMO Don't see it from anyone else's perspective. See it from yours. You deserve to try to connect with a country you find interest in. It's up to you on how you connect to it and what it means to you. Your family's history to it is unique to you. It makes you no better or no worse than anyone else. Someone born in that country or random white dude, doesn't make the story you want to tell somehow less legit than theirs.

I have no idea what to think about the allegations and everything that happened after, but it is odd that it was the second time BOC had to make a statement about him.
I just thought that part of his fandom saying that Poi must have made it all up because she's an asshole and/or abuser herself really gross because that does not mean that he isn't. (I also do not see how her going after him would be to destroy KinnPorsche specifically, because why HIM then. Wouldn't Mile and/or Apo (whom the writers did not like according to the rumor mill?) be the more fitting targets?)
(I do have to admit that I do not follow all that closely so I might have missed recent developments. I did see that she took something back (?) and he resigned from BOC?)

I've not been really part of the fandom before and now I won't touch it with a ten foot pole. I do have to admit that he's probably the one actor I'm least sad to lose because, as you say OP, he's probably the weakest actor, apart from Barcode (imo) who is a teenager. (Ofc that doesn't mean Build deserved it should everything turn out to be a lie afterall)
I just hope that Bible's career won't take a hit now that part of his branded pair is gone. :/ (I would totally go for a Bible/Jeff pairing negl)

I agree about the show being a bandaid sometimes, but the guys' intervention probably helps at least a little, especially in showing the person what confidence feels like and how beneficial it can be.

But don't skip the Japan episodes!! They were my favorites, and they were careful to be as respectful of the culture as they could (even when they didn't understand it very well).
