No. And your biggest clue that I didn't think that was because I never said anything even remotely like that in my comment. Acknowledging that there are practical limitations to how much a person can research and learn in order to compensate for not having the deeper, immersive knowledge of a culture isn't the same thing as saying "Don't try".

My intent was to point out that saying "you're only limited by how much you want to learn. :)" might be kindly meant, but it's not strictly true, nor should OP feel bad if they find it's not feasible for them to gain unlimited amounts of knowledge.
