I don't consider Deerskin's parents star-crossed since they were both shitty for ignoring their daughter even before the mom died. Also, the mom was selfish for making the dad make that promise (pretty much guaranteeing the daughter would be mom-less growing up) and of course we know why the dad was beyond the pale.

I guess I think of star-crossed lovers as being better people than that. Also with a sense of innocence. Which they weren't.
