Amazing stupidity

I have it!

I was scrolling the comment on a Patreon AMA post, and someone said "MTG for life!" My first thought was What the actual fuck? Who would openly admit to being a fan of Marjorie Taylor Greene? A bit more browsing made me realize they meant Magic the Gathering. Holy crap, self. Get a grip.

I could totally see why you thought that... especially if there was no context. But even with context...lol

Don't feel too bad. I see MTG and think Machine Gun skelly or some MAGA shit, so you're not alone lol

Honestly when I saw the title of this comment Marge was one of a handful of people who immediately came to mind... It's descriptive of that wing of Congress.

I don't think it's stupidity, it's just reflective of which one you're more exposed to.

I absolutely would've thought the same thing, because I'm kind of politics/news obsessed and while I've heard of Magic the Gathering, it's not something I'm interested in, so it never even would've occurred to me. It wouldn't have made me think I was stupid, though. Also, I wouldn't be at all surprised at someone saying they were a fan of her (although I guess it would depend on who the person doing the AMA was).

OP

It was an AMA done by Coffeezilla, who in my experience tends to rarely discuss politics or politicians at all.

There were a some political questions in the AMA where he said, "I don't know enough about [X policy/bill/situation] to really comment." I can see how that might be a dodge, but given lately how deep he's been diving into the details of his investigations, he may have developed a high theshold for himself when it comes to speaking publicly about anything. Either way, I can understand him wanting to keep his politics to himself.

That said, in his Safemoon deep dive last spring, the way he described the original creator of the token (to me) gives some clue on Coffee's stance. Coffee's tone of voice of voice when mentioning the founder's belief in QAnon was a mixture of mockery and slight resignation (like a "I can't believe I have to include this tidbit." thought process). I feel that if nothing else Coffee doesn't think much of QAnon or its believers. I mean, that contingent is definitely a breeding ground for grifters of all sorts.
