Same here.
I like gen, but it needs a plot and not just ace being ace. Or having The Talk. I am being ace myself every fucking day why do I need it to see in my reality escape?
No shade to people who need it though.

Sorry if I'm dumb, but I'm not sure what you mean by this? I'm ace and I feel like it's just another aspect of myself. To me, that's like saying "I have blue eyes myself, I don't need to see blue-eyed characters in fiction" and that...makes no sense?

A lot of fanficers write about experiences of being ace especially if they are headcanoning. Characters have the Talk with potential romantic interest about having or not having sex, or there is coming out scene. Or author is trying to sort their feelings about sexuality through character. Or (this I personally find annoying) being all naive about sexual stuff.

Usually authors (or at least authors that I prefer to read) don't describe eye color if there is no need. They describe it to show how character is different, or how someone find their eyes alluring. Or them having eyes of their father and it's the only thing they have from father etc. So yes, I expect aceness to have some impact. Even if it's only "sorry we are not going to sleep together on this road trip, I don't see people like that". Frankly, thinking about it, I wouldn't mind text like this. But usually people have so many Feelings about being ace and I am just not interested.
