Does this artist tag their slash art a slash or m/m? Or have they at any point declared themselves exclusively a slash blog?

If they do tag their slash art, then yeah, it's kind of weird that they would opt not to tag their explicit het art, particularly when slash is their norm so to speak. OTOH, if they don't tag their slash art as slash then why would people expect them to tag their het art as het?

HOWEVER, if this artist is bitching about how people unfollowed them after they posted het art of a rival ship, then yeah, eyeroll at them. Like, if people are sending them snarky PMs or something, then I'm on their side, but if they're just mad that people are unfollowing, yeah, being butthurt on main about it is immature.
