I'm pretty sure that's because if you asked four different people who believe the distinction between a serious theory and a crack theory matters about where it is, you'd get four very different (and mutually contradictory) answers. And when you factor in that "which of these things might actually happen in canon" depends heavily on the whims of canon creators and in the case of something like Star Wars, whoever is being paid to extend the universe next ... it's such a crapshoot.
