I love fan theories when they are actual serious considerations of canon possibility. But I hate it when people don't know the difference between crack and serious theories. It drives me up a wall how serious the Star Wars fandom takes the Darth Jar Jar theory. Is it a funny idea? Yes. But is there even a tiny fraction of a possibility it is real? Fuck no.

I'm pretty sure that's because if you asked four different people who believe the distinction between a serious theory and a crack theory matters about where it is, you'd get four very different (and mutually contradictory) answers. And when you factor in that "which of these things might actually happen in canon" depends heavily on the whims of canon creators and in the case of something like Star Wars, whoever is being paid to extend the universe next ... it's such a crapshoot.
