Update with possibly good news (and pics)
So maybe she's not sick or hurt, maybe she's an indoor cat who accidentally got outdoors and has been out for a couple days and is scared because she doesn't know where to go?
Anyway. How it started -> how it's going.

I just went down to clean up the carrier I have her in a bit (it's old and kind of smelled) and picked her up to give her a little petting and reassurance, and realized she's a polydactyl! 6 toes on each front paw. So that's one way to verify an actual owner if someone tries to claim her. "How many toes does this cat have?"

(Anonymous) 2023-02-21 05:15 am (UTC)(link)But yeah, she definitely looks healthy and alert there! I would see if I could take her somewhere to check for a microchip because I feel like there's a high likelihood she has owners somewhere.

(Anonymous) 2023-02-21 06:49 am (UTC)(link)seconding the others - they look scared out of their mind. I doubt she's sick, probably paralyzed by feat. might be they were lost or dumped. hope you get a chance of getting a chip read.
Thank you for not looking away and taking care of the seeet kitty.

(Anonymous) 2023-02-21 08:42 am (UTC)(link)I think she was just really scared. Indoor pets get a bit weird when they are scared and lost.
I am glad you saved her I hope you would be able to find her owners💔

If my health lets me. Between stress about this and my usual health crap, I slept about 3 hours last night and feel awful this morning, plus I've been absolutely hammered with work and have SO MUCH I already had to do this week to follow up what I got done yesterday.
During those 3 hours I did dream of this cat sitting on me and purring, and when I got up and went down to check on her, she was curled up in a more normal sleepy-cat pose ("the croissant") and when I picked her up and set her on my lap, after initially hiding her face in my elbow, she started vibrating. Not sure whether it was tension and she was trembling every time I touched her, or the very beginnings of a purr. Still not eating or drinking. Maybe she doesn't like dry food (which is what I had on hand because I do not have much money - at least my cat gets the GOOD dry food rather than the cheap stuff since he's a senior), at least I know enough about cats to know it's not actually likely to kill them if they don't eat for a day or two. (Not true of buns.)
So I gave her fresh water at least, and tidied things up in the basement a little better so she can do a little exploring if she wants to. I even had an old litterbox set up down there because (as previously noted) when my doofus cat sneaks into the basement behind me, I sometimes don't know for hours because he gets lost and can't find his way back upstairs. XD
Hopefully we will find a human who is looking for this cat. If not, she has another human willing to look after her (as long as she doesn't pose a threat to my current pets, who are top priority of course). She seems like a sweet thing.
