Not OP, but nothing that ever (to my knowledge) got produced. In 2018, Charles Kessler who alleged that he pitched the for the show to the Duffer brothers at a 2014 Tribeca Film Festival party. He eventually dropped his lawsuit when the Duffers produced documents that could prove they came up with the idea independently before then. In 2020, Jeffrey Kennedy sued them for supposedly copying from his screenplay for a movie called Totem (there was a guy creating concept art for both Totem and the first two seasons of Stranger Things that got pegged as the 'mole' in this situation). That one's still ongoing, but Netflix released a statement saying the Duffers have literally never heard of this guy or his movie before.

NAYRT - The whole thing is kind of ridiculous. I like Stranger Things a lot, but the concepts aren't stunningly original. Especially in the first two seasons.

I was gonna say, I can go through and point out multiple things that were very clearly inspired by existing properties. (Like, the entire concept of the Upside Down is pretty much just Silent Hill and the Otherworld.)
