The other part of that message showed Lennier had the decency to immediately regret his actions before he went away to repent in shame, and never returned.

Is there any need to keep lambasting him after he took responsibility and apologized to the person he tried to kill? What else do you want? Does he need to commit seppuku? Will that be enough?

Even Sheridan forgave the bastard, and Lennier is also very dead, so why can't you just fucking let it go, Elsa!

Yup. Honestly it wasn't a favorite plot point of mine. But the show did both show that even the kindest people can do terrible things but also that people can recognize when they mess up and own up to it.

He didn't take responsibility for his actions though. Him running away was just more ducking the consequences and nice-guyism. Taking the consequences would involve being there in person.

What do you think would happen to Lennier if he stayed, exactly? He didn't break any laws, that we know of, and I doubt the B5 crew would throw him under a jail if he did. Let's be real, even if Lennier did serve time, every second of it, and you would still condemn him. You are doing at this very moment even though he's dead, because to some people no wrong can ever be absolved.
