You just have to rip that bandaid off and lay it out for him bluntly. You've tried hint dropping, you've tried softly suggesting, now you have to lay down the law and say dad, you can't do this no more, you are too ill. And yes it is going to hurt and he's going to be angry and in denial, but it is for his own good, and you might have to say those exact words, which he's not going to like at all, but this is where you are now. It sucks. Good luck.
