I sorta figure the purpose of DNIs is not to actually stop anyone from interacting with you. It's just a marker of identity and affiliation - it tells everyone who sees your blog what side you think you're on.

Agreed, and in my opinion kids use that the most because there's no shortage of kids to befriend so it works as a self-introduction of sorts. But yeah, the rude wording gets me.
