I know I have watched things with Daniel Day Lewis in. I know because I remember looking up a character on Wikipedia *multiple times* and and thinking "wow, of course, that was Daniel Day Lewis! He's really good!".

But if someone had a gun to my head and told me to pick him out of a lineup, or even say the name of something he'd been in, I'd be fucked.

It's a weird blindspot, and bizarrely I'd be more likely to mistake Willem DaFoe for him.

DDL is legendary. I think the first thing I ever saw him in was A Room With a View, and yeah, he totally became that character.

But. He's a method actor who does batshit crazy stuff to become his characters. It sort of makes me lose respect for an actor when I find out they were living a role instead of... well, acting it. I get the concept of method acting, and I'm amazed by the self-discipline it requires, and obviously it can lead to epic portrayals. But if you're living on an historical set and endangering your own physical health and refusing to break character or even interact with your colleagues off camera, that seems douchey to me.

Apologies to OP for using their DDL secret to unload my hang-ups with method acting LOL. I guess this comment could a fandom secret of mine.
