Gonna be honest: you don't have to say anything sometimes. She likely sees your comments elsewhere about how "healthy" that ship is or something, because I don't doubt you DO talk about it. No one, and I mean NO ONE, keeps their reasons 100% secret.

Actually, this is the first place I've ever made comments about it anywhere online. No one else in the fandom that I've been able to find ships A/B (it's a small fandom to begin with and most of the shipping discussion/fic revolves around the main canon couple, which does not include A) so I haven't felt comfortable bringing it up in fandom places.

I brought it up to her because we don't have a ton in common anymore except both being into fandom and we always end up talking about it when we see each other because there's not much else to talk about. The most I might've said is that I think A/B get along better, but honestly, she does most of the talking (which is fine with me) so I don't have a ton of opportunities to go into long explanations, and like I said, this is honestly the first time I've ever really gone into my reasons anywhere.

Right now this is the only fandom we share, but she's also gotten mad at me over ships in other fandoms in the past. She's actually somewhat known among people we know about getting mad at people for dumb stuff (she once quit speaking to her cousin for almost a month because her cousin, when they were getting manicures together, decided to get her nails painted a different color than her). She always gets over it, I guess I'm just venting a bit here.

Gonna be honest: you seem to be determined to find fault with OP in some way and are coming across like you think OP deserves to have her friend act like this. It doesn't seem like OP has done what you're saying they have, in their own words here, but even if they had talked with others in A/B spaces and explained their reasons for not shipping A/C so long as they didn't do that in A/C spaces(or called those that like it idiots or rude names) it wouldn't warrant their friend being at least low-key rude to their face. You can explain why something doesn't work for you in a seperate space without being rude towards those that like it, an explanation is not condemnation no matter how much I see fans try to twist that into being the case.
