TBH I think both views are pretty obviously wrong. It is clearly not the case that you should refrain from using religious material in fictional works because people from that religion consider it disrespectful. And it's also clearly not the case that if that *is* a rule, it should apply to some religions but not others.

At most, you can say that the fact that native cultures are super-marginalized means that we should be more polite to them, and obey the request out of pure politeness, even though it's totally unjustified.
