You know I do think a lot of new greek stories miss a lot of potential nuance but not in trying to make myth contemporary to the needs of modern people. stories which comment on contemporary values is the point of greek myth imo.

But also the greek gods aren't supposed to be lawless? A lot of their myths are about one or another of them fucking up. Like zeus's origin as king of the gods is because kronos does a morally bad thing by eating his children. My favorite myth, song of demeter, is about how zeus royally fucked up and all the other gods besides hecate are cowards. The iliad is about two decades of terrible decision-making, human and divine. If I had to guess, I'd say that greek myth is resigned to the fact that power often means injustice, and that feels off if you value justice, but imo that's not the same as saying all divinity is infallible.
