Well, I didn't care for it that much, it seemed to me like it was trying too hard to be The Mummy in the jungle, with a little of The Pirates of the Carribean thrown in. And the whole weird schtick with the sword and MacGregor seemed homophobic and very unnecessary to me. Plus, there was the annoying "Pants" nickname, it was sexist, yeah, but it was also way overused, and in British English 'pants' means underpants, and also, informally, nonsense.

But it does seem like a lot of the general audience who saw it liked it (92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes), even if it didn't do as well at the box office as Disney would have hoped. The budget was $200m and it made $221m at the box office (not including digital sales), which may seem fine, but reported movie budgets don't generally include marketing costs, which can be pretty expensive, like, as much as the production budget itself. However, it does look like a sequel is getting developed, at least as of October 2022 (https://collider.com/jungle-cruise-2-jumanji-3-dwayne-johnson-black-adam-beau-flynn-hiram-garcia-comments/), keeping in mind, of course, that the original idea for a Jungle Cruise movie came about in 2004, the Dwayne Johnson version was announced in 2015, and it took until 2018 to start filming and 2021 to get released.
