Re: Daily remind that

I think people in F!S are well aware that there are anons that are not native in English and are quite welcoming of them as a whole.

I comment here often and I've been visiting F!S almost on daily basis since 2011 (12 YEARS OMG) and I've only had a few anons who were snarky at me for my English proficiency even if it's quite obvious I'm not native.

If I remember correctly the last one was on a secret about The Good Place where I misspelled philosophy? Maybe? IDK the anon's answer was snarky (maybe because my post itself was kind of snobby), but when I explained that I'm not native the anon in question actually apologized for their rude response. I've had other similar responses during my interactions here.
So IDK I do think that F!S is quite welcoming to ESL and non native English speakers. Especially these last few years. It's become better and better.
Of course you always have THAT anon, sometimes, but they are pretty rare and not a staple of this community.

There are some anons that are rude not because of the language proficiency level, but because people ask questions that are easy to search by yourself. But I do believe that is true to any community that is quite on the older spectrum. A lot of people here grew up with the motto of "you first search by yourself and then you ask" so yeah, there's that.
I don't know about yesterday's secrets, but seeing the comments above mine here it seems that that was the case. Someone not understanding a secret's context not because of the language barrier, but because of a easily (???) searchable term related to a specific fandom.

Of course sometimes there are cultural misunderstandings and F!S is not a perfect place whatsoever, but I'm quite happy about how us ESL people are integrated here.
