There's nothing sad about having an idol, even if she isn't a real person. Heck, my idol is Lois Lane! That's the thing with characters though - they can be all the things we would like to be and inspire us to continue to try/better ourselves. :) Yay for badass chicks

I think you picked a really good role model there, OP. Robin's awesome definitely overpowers her issues, so. Plus I have to admit I'm jealous of and occasionally use her fashion style as inspiration--comfortable but still fucking gorgeous.

it's not sad at all - robin's a GREAT role model, as far as i'm concerned! and i love that she's not some ninja-fighting superhero, she's just a regular girl. who happens to be AWESOME.

Robin is a *legendary* role model, and that is just ONE of the many reasons I wish that more people watched this show (seriously, this should be like, the Friends of our time, except it's way better than friends).

I am *nowhere* near as cool as Robin, but I am like her in that I'm not obsessed with getting married, I'm not even really sure that I want to get marred at all. But, think about it, how many female characters are there like that on TV? Why does EVERY female character on TV have to be obsessed with marriage? Don't people ever get tired of the same old cliches? Seriously, sometimes I think that if I hear one more "wow, chicks are all just so desperate to get married, ha ha!" jokes I'm gonna go on a shooting rampage.

OK, so rant over ;-) The weird, kinda ironic thing is that Lilly and Marshall's relationship on the same show is one of the very few (maybe the only?) examples I can think of on TV of a positive portrayal of a kick-ass marriage between two *people* who aren't just *the parents* but rather are young, fun, main characters. If there were more marriages like that on TV, maybe I wouldn't be half so terrified of the idea!

I have so much Sherbatsky love in my heart too. She's an awesome character. Very few females on tv can be that sexually active without coming off as a slut or a bimbo, and her tomboyishness gives me such a girl crush on her. When she was having that flashback from when she was a kid on the hockey team? Chills. XD
