hmm, i do think there are authors who are writing in a way that I personally find meh or worse but that clearly allows them a good deal of output, because it simply doesn't take as much thought lol. but I think writers who write well but aren't considered like the writing equivalent of tentpoles still have fairly good output. it's just the tentpoles that for some reason get jammed up.

Tentpoles?? This is a metaphor I haven't come across before, but I rather like it.

it used to be used for the movies that were propping up studios, as they were making the money that studios could use for more risky movies
