Re: Good things and bad things

Good: I'm going on a vacation/trip for the first time in eight years. All my "vacations" since 2015 have been staycations, or bereavement leave, hijacked by covid, etc, no overnight trips anywhere, and my last before 2015 was in 2008. New York, here I come.

Bad: I'm leaving my pets in the dubious care of my housemate, whose cats I always feed and give meds when she's gone, which is fairly often.

She's already said she got the days I'll be gone wrong so she'll be in LA from Friday when I get on the plane to Sunday. That leaves her elderly (he's 18) cat without his meds on Saturday, and my seven hens shut in their 8x10' coop from Thursday night (gotta leave for the airport at 4:00 am Friday) to Sunday afternoon.

I was already worried she'd leave the coop open late and my hens would get eaten by raccoons, and now I'm worried they might eat each other out of boredom and stress.

I hope my cat will be okay and the housemate doesn't let her out; unlike hers, mine is indoor only.

Also my impulse to spend money on show tickets and fancy cosplay fabric and books and stuff is tempered by knowing NY is expensive, I'm not well off at all, and I have to pay the other half of my property tax bill when I get back.
