Something that is so important is to create natural boundaries. Social media websites deliberately try to keep you on them.

Sites like tumblr have an option you can enable to make it so you have to click through pages rather than infinitely scrolling. When you use your phone, sit in a weird place or uncomfortable position that you can only maintain for so long. Set alarms. Restrict scrolling to breakfast or bathroom time.

Whatever boundaries you can set, the better. Social media preys upon the intermittent reward and tiny dopamine bursts. The more you can get dopamine from other things and prevent yourself from getting trapped in an endless loop, the better.
