Comedy series with seasons of less than a dozen episodes. Abbott Elementary s2 having more than 20 feels like a godsend as someone who loves when sitcoms have the freedom to explore weird character dynamics and ideas.

It makes the characters feel more like real people living their lives separate from a writer's room. I hope execs learn something from its success, as I hate how so many other recent comedy shows (even the ones I like) constantly feel like they have to move an overarching plot forward.

Agreed. I've seen people complain about the US version of Ghosts having too many episodes, but I like having more, even the "ghost of the week" ones.

DA

YES! I love that about the show, too. It's nice to have new episodes to look forward to for a good part of the year, and it's been a great opportunity to let me learn more about the characters and their histories and whatnot. I also like how they manage to have some continuity while also still allowing episodes to be standalone enough to where you could drop in and still get a general idea of who's who and what's going on. It's so nice to have that kind of balance.

Plus, I think it helps in terms of keeping a stable fandom, instead of people just hopping from one show to the next because the seasons are so short and everything flies by so fast and there's not enough time to build up or discuss everything going on.
