Ah you’re right, SARS was ten years later. The 90s respiratory epidemics were mainly air pollution and regular flu.

I definitely got the vibe that AIRT thinks the 90s were better. And I also think they’d be more accurate to say they’re nostalgic for the time they weren’t aware of most of what was happening in the world because for the vast majority of the people on the planet the 90s were worse. White middle class America is about the only demographic that hasn’t experienced major changes and are truly becoming aware of the reality for everyone else. Not to say they didn’t have some awareness or concern before but the internet and social media in particular have massively opened the window into what the world is like for everyone that isn’t them.

Well, yeah, but also... COVID was much worse than SARs. It had a more significant negative impact on the world than they did. They're not really comparable things.

I definitely got the vibe that AIRT thinks the 90s were better.

You can think that the 90s were better in specific ways - you can even think that the 90s were better across the board - without thinking that the 90s were perfect, or that there's nothing that's better now.

I'm the anon in question, and ayrt is way off the mark. Of COURSE I don't think the 90s were better in every way. I pointed out a very few things that I thought were better because someone specifically asked about that. And ayrt is so unreasonable they even want to argue that oh noooo not having COVID in existence wasn't better (I mean... what??) because... SARS. Yeah, that's a logical argument right there.

Some things were better, some things were worse. That's just going to be reality any time you compare two different time periods, but apparently some defensive anon thinks I'm a maniacal 90s stan, LOL.

"I definitely got the vibe that AIRT thinks the 90s were better."

Well no, I don't. I merely pointed out a very short list of things I thought were better. The air of 90s superiority you believe I have is some kind of weird baggage you brought to this discussion. It's got nothing to do with me and has no basis on what I actually said.
