Movie theater things

I went to see Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves today and before the movie there was a promo(?)/announcement from the cast saying that the people who came to the theater were heroes for... coming to the theater. Their outfits were a little strange and the eyelines were all over the place, basically it had the vibe of "they are threatening us with something, so we have to say this on camera". I haven't been to a movie theater since 2019, is this a new thing?

Also, there was a guy who got a phone call and sat there and answered it. He wasn't loud about it and it lasted maybe a minute, but why, why would anyone think that was okay?

SA

Also, is the acronym for the movie going to be DAD:HAT? 'Cause I'd really like it to be.

Thanks! I've been sing-songing it under my breath to the tune of The Pink Panther Theme for a while now.

Always happy to amuse! It was so, so weird. I can understand why the people involved with the movie appreciate people actually going to theaters, but, damn, what a way to express it.
