Yeah there's a definite trend in online ND spaces to ascribe everything to their neurodivergence rather than recognising that it's a totally normal, common thing for people to do, regardless of whether they're NT or not.

It reminds me of the thing where people think having a shopping bag full of shopping bags is a cultural thing. I've seen it described as a Latino thing, a British thing, a white American thing, and a black American thing, among others. Some things are just universal, folks.

Using cookie tins to store sewing supplies is another. That had a lot of nonwhite people bonding over how they thought it was just a their-culture thing but coming to the conclusion that it was actually an all-nonwhite-cultures thing, and I hated to burst their bubbles by saying my white family did it too. They probably would've gotten mad at me for unknowingly stealing from their culture and making the discussion about my white self anyway.

Ah, yes, the constant disappointment of opening the cookie tin to find no cookies, only buttons and thread. :(
