Weirdest fandom experience
(Anonymous) 2023-04-04 10:30 am (UTC)(link)I've been in a "team" making illustrations for this fanfic translation as a part of some Big Bang. I don't exactly remember why but we've decided to make a pdf file fanzine-style for this. I am a designer so this task was on me. What possibly can go wrong am I right?
The Translator was micromanaging every little thing, we were in a different time zones, I had a very demanding day job, also there was a deadline. So basically it was unpaid hell. Also "fun" little jokes about this being like a second job were... a thing.
Anyway. One time she stopped talking to me for a day and was absolutely enraged. The reason? I suggested that maybe we shouldn't make the title page that makes this fic sound like it's a PhD thesis. It was a nice quiet day, not gonna lie.
Our communication stopped after I offended her by saying that I don't drink instant coffee. Apparently it was too bourgeois of me. I told her to fuck off and I never looked back.
The translation was so damn good though.
Tell me your weird or fun or hellish fan collaboration stories. I want to hear them!
