We also have lighted pedestrian crossings, they are just not zebra crossings. Zebra crossings sre reserved only for 'pedestrians have right off way' crossings here - and accordingly are only located in sensible places, usually where there is high foot traffic and a low speed limit.

That's interesting!
We have zebra crossings for every (ground) crossing so everyone can see them. Cars supposed to slow down a bit even if their light is green
