Italian American tiny me adored cartoons of all kinds and the Sesame Street Muppets.

A few years later, I learned how to serve myself cold cereal and milk. Saturdays were phenomenal.

Cartoons have been truly epic for me ever since.

I recently came to the realization that I crave pizzas (especially frozen) specifically on Fridays is due to me enjoying Friday nights as a kid. Friday nights to eat junk food and watch TV or be on the internet all night either talking on the phone with my best friend or chatting on AOL with her ♡

Awww, hugs for you if you want them, OP. I have fond memories of eating cereal on the floor of the family room while watching Saturday morning cartoons as a kid.

Aww, I feel you, OP. I lived for Saturday morning cartoons and, even though I was an adult when it happened, I got really sad when they stopped airing them. I’ve been rewatching some of my childhood favorites on various streaming sites, but it just doesn’t feel the same.

As an Australian, I can relate lol

But mostly for me (in the 70s/80s) it was watching (weird) british (and sometimes Canadian) kids shows in the evenings on channel 2 (which is now the ABC).

For me it was the early 90s when they had the classic Doctor Who, Monkey and The Goodies line-up. I wanted to ride on a cloud like monkey :P

yes! we had that line up in the late 80s too, some of my favourite shows from that time period! We used to pretend play we had clouds in the backyard lol I have Monkey and Goodies on DVD now and my son (now grown up) watched them when he was smaller too (though the old Goodies eps are kind of problematic now). I always liked the end credit music for Monkey.

The end credit music from Monkey still gets stuck in my head sometimes, the opening music was great too. Some of the Goodies jokes haven't aged well, but what really surprised me when I saw them again are the things I missed/went right over my head as a kid lol

TV-Globinho was this for me! I miss it a lot, but, I get most kids nowadays don't watch tv anymore ( from what I've seen from my nieces and nephew at least.)

I hear ya.

In the US, we had Saturday mornings cartoons and some of those were pretty weird - Meatballs & Spaghetti, Trollkins, The Pac-Man Show, and Monchichis (here's the opening for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gq2_BKd2RYI). Still, I remember it with nostalgia and now there's a bunch of animal and learning programs, which there is absolutely nothing wrong with, it's just not the same.

How's this for obscure and weird? Or absurdly niche fandom-wise.

Potato Head Kids
Galaxy High
The Galaxy Rangers
Star Blazers ( English translation of Uchuu Senkan Yamato )
UFO Robot Grendeizer ( English translation of UFO Robot Gurendaizaa )
Robotech ( Deliberate and highly edited English language mash-up of three different anime series, including Space Genesis Mospeada ).

And last, but infamously least, the first broadcast of the Carbombya episode of the Transformers cartoon.

The ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corp) had the best shows when I was a kid, from anime, to Round the Twist, and cool shows about aliens from New Zealand! And then there was The Goodies, Monkey, Dr Who, and more!
