"This one character is a bad cook haha funny" is a common trope that a lot of people are tired of at this point, and when tropes get to that point, it's habit for fans to think up ways to prove a show they like isn't really doing the trope and is in fact cleverly subverting it somehow if you examine carefully enough.

I'm over that trope, too. But it seems silly to argue with it in this case, because it's so obvious that WW really is bad at cooking.

If it was something that came up constantly as a big comedic thing I'd understand that reasoning hut it's basically a one-off occasion. And considering he first was a street urchin who then grew up into a spoiled young master type (at least by station, if not by the way he was treated by his stepmom) it kinda makes sense for him not being able to cook.
