I mean. We saw how that went with Steven Universe. Cartoon Network tried to run them off, then finally gave them a cut-off to finish things because they fought for the gay wedding that wouldn't allow censoring.

+1, They did their best, and the show suffered because CN tried to hold them off.

Owl House was Disney's 5th most popular show.
Just saying.

And it wasn't cancelled because of the LGBTQ content. Until Dana Terrace says "Now that the show is over and I've left Disney, I can tell you that I lied before when I assured you that the cancellation was for other reasons and to know I had full support regarding the queerness angle, that was a lie to save my ass from getting fired earlier," please don't disrespect her and the crew's currently given reasons.

She's pretty heavily implied it was because of SOMETHING progressive and likely has a NDA against saying anything outright.

now now you gotta give credit to the higher-ups who make show runners lives a nightmare to work with WHILE the show is in production.

(This makes me think of how waaay back in series three of Adventure Time, there was a discussion video that was posted under Cartoon network's account where somebody lightly suggested that there might have been romantic history between Bubblegum and Marceline, and the studio shut that channel down so fast for it.)

They did the right thing. The person who made the suggestion wasn't in charge of any of the show's writing, but if someone who was still involved officially in some loose way made fans think Bubbline could be canon and then it wasn't because that wasn't in the plans (remember at this time we were five years away from the final episode and none of the writers had plans that far ahead), there would have been a bigger shitstorm about queerbaiting and false promises.

I think it's more that the networks won't let them and the creators fight like hell to get *any* representation in. So yes, I agree with you, and when it happens it's great, but it's not the creators fearing fundies that is the problem. It's cowardly networks.

I agree with you but the creators aren't the ones calling the shots on that front, it's the networks making them push queer-content back out of fear of pissing off the fundie twats, they're the making that choice not the people making these shows.
