That all seems logical to me.

Once in a blue moon I'll do this for fics I wrote years ago. More often than not I'm the only one who wrote for the pairing and ya know what? Thank you, past me. Thanks for giving me fic to read years into the future when I rediscover my love for an exceedingly rare ship.

Hell yeah!

I honestly write for myself, because it's something that I wanted to imagine and read (and of course I'm very happy if other people enjoy it, but in a tiny fandom, not as many people do, lol.)

You do you, OP. It wouldn't feel real coming from me personally.

That probably came out a little cattier than you intended. I personally think there's no harm at all in being proud of your own writing. It's like giving yourself a pat on the back for a job that's you sincerely feel is well done.

Oops, no. Didn't mean it catty at all. Just meant I personally wouldn't do that because it wouldn't work for me but have no issue with OP doing it.

Hard same.

The secret makes sense to me. I'm a self-published author who started in fanfic. My first novel is the book I wish existed in the world. I still reread it.

I like the cut of your jib, OP.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-14 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Fair enough.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-14 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
I’ve done this before too. It’s comforting to reread my own writing (even when it sometimes makes me cringe or I notice a grammar error that I didn’t see while proofreading it).

(Anonymous) 2023-04-14 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Not writing, but my own fanart is what I look at the most.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-14 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
I do this and it's great to hear this helps you OP, no judgment here.

Sometimes I'll either be in real need of finding something that reminds me I'm a real person with my own interests and curiosities/not a waste of space or just in a mood for a ship/situation I'd written that I couldn't find elsewhere.

Like, instead of searching for external validation (especially when my search doesn't work out or I get it and it doesn't give me the assurance/catharsis I want), reading something I wrote and realize I did something I liked the anon kudos I give myself is a nice feeling. I feel less anxious.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-14 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I do that too sometimes, when it's something a bit niche.

It's a, 'I worked hard and I'm allowed to be proud of that,' kudos.

I've done the same op. There's not much interaction in my current fandom so I tend to do the same with my own works just to cheer myself up.

Alot of the fics I write are for specific ideas that I don't see anywhere else anyways, so I re-read my fics quite often.
