Have you ever gotten into a fandom thanks to another fandom?

I got into Doctor Who thanks to the Harry Potter fandom. More specifically, at one point some fellow fans were really upselling Who, so I decided to give it a try. Glad I did as I now love it, even though I'm no longer into Potter.

If this counts, got into the Silmarillion thanks to the LOTR and HObbit parts of the fandom. Was reading fics on the HObbit kink meme, one of them happened to be a Silmarillion one. Loved it, decided to read the book, fell in love. Before that I was really only into the movies.

I got into Buffy (which was closed canon at the time) because of the Torchwood fandom and James Marsters being hot.

Too damned many to mention coherently.

However, since it is still 4/13, I will say that Homestuck is a killer gateway drug to too many different fandoms.

This cheating a bit, but the Ace Attorney series got me into Professor Layton when the crossover was announced.

Sort of got into Kingdom Hearts after reading some fic for an anonymous contest.

Yes. A lot of times. I check out other works made by writer/actor/whatever. There are a lot of sister fandoms I've been into. A LOT.
For example being into Doctor Who get me into loving DW Extended Universe and it's a whole ass different fandom to start with. But it made me spend a lot of time in Withnail and I fandom. And so on

Gravity Falls/Stanchez got me into Rick & Morty, lol. I stopped watching after the third season but it was fun for a while & I made some good friends!

I probably would have never gotten into Naruto if it wasn't for the Yu-gi-oh! Abridged fan forums way back in the early 2000s.

I follow a lot of Devil May Cry artists on Twitter and saw a lot of them retweeting Trigun fanart, so thats what introduced me to Trigun.

How has your week been?

Haven't been feeling so hot, took a half day yesterday and today off. Have a cold. Been sleeping a lot and doing a Criminal Minds rewatch. On season 2.

As to how my week is going... I am exhausted. Just completely buried under with work.

Stressful, mostly courtesy of H&R Block, but also fun because I somehow got roped into starring in another “Backstroke of the West”-style parody dub, so I get to spend the next few weeks (months?) sitting at my computer recording nonsense lines in my best preteen Emma Watson impression. Yes, it’s Harry Potter (although his name got translated to “Hally Porter”), but it’s hard to imagine how JKR could possibly get anything from this. I sure am, though. I feel less depressed ever since I joined the project, and I’ve barely done anything yet.

Thinking about taking up a second job at a local grocery store if only for the employee discount. Food prices are killing me these days. Sigh.

Other than that, making thank-you cards to send out for the nice birthday presents I received this year.

I really want to answer this but I'm sure if I had the energy, it'd just turn into some toxic rant about being in positions I don't want to be in right now.

So I'll just say I hope you feel better and hope everyone's week very much sucks less.

Well, work has been tedious and frustrating, but I at least got my dead laptop to the command prompt this afternoon, managed to grant myself admin status, and rescued my in-progress fics and tax documents to a USB drive since I can't actually load Windows.

Also, I finally got around to actually trying my hand at making chainmail. I find it amusing that now instead of crafting armor to wear in-game while I'm waiting for Duty Roulette to ping in FFXIV, I'm crafting armor to wear IRL. And frankly, although it's destroying my poor hands to make the rings, what I've got looks really cool so far.

(I... think I was looking for someone to tell me it would be okay to cosplay Haurchefant. And I was told hardly anyone cosplays him, and when they do, it's usually casual rather than armored. So uh. That's a good excuse to finally make myself some chainmail.)

The first thing that comes to mind for me is "The Devil Wears Prada." I hated the inside of that girl's head so much! The movie was a thousand times more enjoyable for me.
