From what I've read, it's not strictly about narcissism or similar disorders. Lots of people enjoy being abrasive online. This is especially true of women when they have sone level of anonymity. Likewise, recent reporting from Social Media Today indicates that overall engagement drops when there's less material that provokes anger being made available.
