Eh? I never felt pressured to create tons of content for free, and I've been cranking stuff out for the past 25 years. Whenever I write something, it's for ME. I like to share it for feedback, true, but I've never felt like I owed any community my content.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-19 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, same. I write because I enjoy the act of writing itself and because I want to create something for the fandoms I enjoy. Other people liking it is just the icing on the cake, and I certainly don't feel like I owe anyone my writing.

Same, mostly...except I do put it out there to entertain people. If anybody is entertained by it besides me, I'm very happy! It's like making a nice meal and watching your family or friends eat is satisfying. They CAN rave ecstatically about how delicious it is, but they're not expected to. If I get a thumbs up, or a yum!, well, that's a kudos.

Many authors don't want feedback these days, they want fellation.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-19 12:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Don’t know if that’s true. Some maybe. But many? Eh, don’t agree.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-19 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't see how this generalization was in any way a counterargument, or even relevant.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-20 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
as is their right. I always try to gush over fics like in the old LJ days, like it't the best thing ever. I love my fic writers. Otherwise they just privately share fic among friends. (I'm that friend so I know) Because f* lurkers.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-20 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
nayrt

fuck lurkers? seriously?

(Anonymous) 2023-04-20 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, f* them. They can't be bothered to spend a sec to leave anon kudos? Then they don't get to consume fic. They are not seen, they don't exist. All they do is make hits/kudos ratio worse. Despicable people.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-20 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Because the most important part is the hits/kudos ratio. THAT'S what the whole thing is about right? Being the most celebrated. Not being the most popular but being SEEN as being the most popular. Not the writing. Not exploring themes and worlds. Fuck any kind of enjoyment people may get because that enjoyment BELONGS TO ME. Fuck making the world a better place if I don't get to see all of it.

You're delightful.

SA

Also, get out of here with your censorship bullshit. You wanna be a dick, go all the way.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-21 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
This is the stupidest thing. I have a hard time believing you’re not trolling. That, or snobs like you will look for anything to feel self-righteous and superior about, because gatekeeping is how you get your kicks.
