Yikes, sounds terrible.

I've only ever left comments on anon and I'm not a regular fanfic reader, so I've only ever experienced either kind gratitude or silence from authors when I've commented.

As a writer, it's like looking into an empty void and I keep expecting something but it's routinely an empty void.
Maybe I'll get a kind, short comment here or there and those are nice.
And on the very rare occasion I get a mean comment that derails my emotions for weeks.

IMO no one wins. We all hate each other but love fanfics
