I wish more people would call out the idea that authors write for free, out of the goodness of their hearts, when most of them expect a payday in the form of priase and attention. I respect the authors who admit they only write for attention and if they don't get it, they'll stop. At least they're being honest.

And honestly? Those people could have clicked on your fic, hated it, and clicked out. So a lot of those hits could have been click-backs.
