Doesn't he beat a man to death in the fourth episode?

A man who was a member of a violent terrorist group that had escalated to murdering civilians, and who had just thrown a stone pillar at him about thirty seconds before. Also, it was in an active combat zone, and the designated heroes had done things that objectively were just as bad if not worse in previous episodes. Sam was killing men right and left in the first episode, and who knows how many inmates and prison staff were killed in the riot Bucky deliberately started to break Zemo out of prison.

I kept expecting Walker to do something genuinely evil, but he never did. At worst, he was morally grey.

I think a lot of people questioned if Walker had to kill at that moment. I just rewatched the scene, and John didn't have to. He killed Nico because he was angry and felt justified in letting his anger get the better of him.

Maybe, maybe not. It was an active combat situation, with a supersoldier who was part of a group that was burning tied-up captives alive. As a supersoldier, Nico is always going to be dangerous, even unarmed. Add to that, he'd just helped to kill one guy on Walker's team, and had just thrown a pillar at Walker's head, I can see it as a heat of battle thing. At worst, it was morally gray, not pure evil like the show seemed to want me to think.

Yeah, that's basically how I felt. I couldn't hate John because I understood and empathized with him but couldn't respect him.
