The point of fandom and fanfic and fantasy is that it's NOT ACTUALLY REAL, and so it doesn't have to conform to 'real' laws, morals, etc. Werewolves! Incest! Rape-to-Love! Whatever trips your trigger, that's what it's all about.

I don't use fiction as a guidebook to tell me how to live. I use it as an imagination playground where pretty much anything goes. Catharsis is real and important and it's a safe way to play with danger.

It *is* a ridiculous thing to say about fiction. Imagine if they applied the idea more broadly: "Why yes, I suppose you're right. It would be terrible if there were a war in space. We don't want to encourage that sort of thing. I'll cancel movie night immediately."

I feel like those who hate on fictional couples/ships are projecting their own IRL stuff onto fandom.

There are things in their life that aren't perfect so why do I have to put up with bullshit couple with their unhealthy dynamics?!?! They shouldn't be together and why does everyone celebrate toxic relationships??

It's frustrating because people should be allowed to just enjoy things. Not everything needs to be perfect according to someone who believes they have a strong moral compass.

Yes, and also sometimes it's about not even wanting two HOT people to fuck but that two unattractive characters fucking would nevertheless do such GREAT things to both of their characters. I'm more attracted to dynamics than the actual characters themselves, and sometimes I just like to play with fucked up and creepy dynamics between whatever two characters lend themselves best to that, regardless of what they look like.

People who want hot people to fuck in creepy ways are so valid too, though.

Awww! What a cute secret. I'm glad you're liking it!
My mother absolutely adores it and now prefers it to the original show.
I've seen only a couple of episode with her so far, but when it's airing it always puts a smile on my face because my mother is always happier when there's "the young Morse detective", as they call the show here in my country, on TV.
