I always wonder... if those people are really queer, and visibly so, if they had to pick one country in the Middle East to live, which one would it be? Something tells me it would be one where women are not executed for adultery, and gays for just existing.

>Something tells me it would be one where women are not executed for adultery, and gays for just existing.

So in a dream world.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-22 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Lol you tried

(Anonymous) 2023-04-22 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
They did better than you.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-22 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, if you actually believe gays and women have the same amount of rights and survival rate based on the laws that criminalise them just for existing in strict Muslim countries and other countries you're really fucking sheltered but that's okay.

Itt: "I can tolerate racism but I draw the line at homophobia"

(Anonymous) 2023-04-22 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Islam is not a race.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-22 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
You "I'm fine with misogyny and homophobia and killing those filthy women and gays because of religion but I draw the line at criticising that religion".

(Anonymous) 2023-04-22 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Nope! This whole conversation is someone saying that people shouldn't support Palestine or criticize Israel because Israel is tolerant of gay people. That just doesn't wash. Homophobia in Islamic cultures is not a defense of the racist nature of the Israeli state.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-22 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Nobody mentioned is real you dumbass. This is purely about the fact that gay rights don't exist in a Muslim lead state like Palestine.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-22 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
They also don't exist in Israel if you're Muslim. So...

(Anonymous) 2023-04-22 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Riiight, that's why queer Palestinians have been migrating to Israel a lot. And again: Nobody except you mentioned Israel.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-22 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Right, because before someone actually said the word, no one was thinking it or implying it. Fail. Try again.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-22 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
You are the only one thinking and implying it though. This is purely a matter of it being laughable to wave flags of a Muslim state at a Pride parade. If you need to stroke your Israel hateboner, do it in private.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-22 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
the reason that people support Palestine and Palestinians is because of the situation they have been placed in by the actions of the state of Israel

this is crucial context that can't be ignored

This x2

It's fine to support any state/nation that experiences injustice in the eyes of the supporter.

But Pride should be about the rights of queer/LGBT peope, first and foremost. This is what Pride is about. Flags of homophobic states - oppressed or not - contradict the idea of queer empowerment. Unless the idea is about being queer AND Palestinian, but then it should be explicitly stated so.

NAYRT

Yes, I do draw a line at homophobia. Why shouldn't I? Gays and lesbians don't have a country only for them, with laws specifically designed to protect their rights above anyone else. So of course I will take the side of a country which has more favourable laws. I do not condone any war crimes or human rights abuse, though.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-22 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
This is understandable.
