Just last week I read a description of ALF on facebook that made it sound like ALF was a much darker show than it was!

Like "Gordon's boredom, depression, and survivor's guilt often gets him in trouble." So yeah a grimdark ALF reboot would work!

Family keeps him a secret, in part due to a deep seated and ultimately justified distrust of the government stemming from their anti war protesting days in the 60s. ALF frequently spends his time searching for other survivors of his planet, sexually harassing the mom on the show, pranking the nosy neighbors and dispensing unsolicited party animal advice to the kids. Etc.
