As long as nobody was "lean" here. I quite like Scottish-Indian cooking, personally. That combination of depth of flavour and deep fried comfort.

Thai. I love thai food so much and I force my sister to get it every time I visit.

Mexican and Chinese tend to be my go-to comfort foods. Can't go wrong with rice, I guess...

I love Mexican but living in Oklahoma, I take it for granted.

This is very very white of me, but after moving from Oklahoma to the west coast with real Chinatowns and Dim Sum everything - I miss the Chinese buffets back in OK. Also, if y'all back there could send Mazzio's over, that would be great, kthx.

If you send me some of that In-And-Out I've heard so much about!

AYRT

I'm in the PNW so I have no regional pride to cover up the fact that In-And-Out is overrated.

Re: What cuisine

(Anonymous) 2023-04-22 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Idk if it's overrated or not

It's in the category where, it's not life changing and I wouldn't go on a road trip just to try it, but if I had one near me I'd go there all the time

Italian is my comfort food. I need to eat more protein but I WANT pasta and bread.

Same.

If I could only eat one cuisine, I would pick Italian.

But I also deeply love Cajun and Mexican. It's really so, so close between them. Cajun and Creole food is just magic.

man, i can't think of a cuisine where i wouldn't want to at least try most of the most common dishes.

Totally biased here because ciao from italia, but Italian cuisine.
I'm not really that into pasta or pizza, but damn caprese salad or a prosciutto and melone plate are incredible. Pinzimonio is simple yet delicious. And I love olive oil with fresh bread and a pinch of salt... Omg. PERFECTION!
I think I just love how we eat a lot of vegetables and fruits here, lol.
I think the same could be said about all Mediterranean cuisine. I'm particularly fond of Greek food, too!

Bonus: The other best one is Japanese cuisine because Japanese style breakfast is the best! No discussion. Miso soup, tamagoyaki and salmon in the morning?! What is there not to love...
It was the best part of staying in a Ryokan.
Sashimi is what I love the most about Japanese food culture. It's the simplest yet most delicious food ever for me.

omg plus 1 on the Japanese. I will be thinking about the food I had while visiting last month forever. The ryokan dinners, the yakiniku, the noodles, oh my god taiyaki on the street fresh off the griddle...

It's either Middle Eastern/Indian or South East Asian (if I had to pick one based on nation either Taiwanese or Filipino).

Cuban.

I'm turning on my own countrymen, but Cuban. So tasty. Ropa vieja? The egg on the rice and beans??? Add some sweet plantains? Perfection.

I recently had some Senegalese food and man that was delicious (the okraaaa). I enjoy Italian Italian food (although I'm often weak for diner spaghetti and marinara sauce). There's also tasty Lebanese and Greek food, and so many types of Chinese and Japanese meals. Hmmm. There's too many to choose from!!

I personally really enjoy Thai food! Savory, sweet, hot, and imta big fan of coconut in any cooking.

Cuban food is amazing!

I'm now way too tempted to make a secret that very tangentially relates to Cuban food. *facepalm*

Japanese, mostly for the sushi/sashimi/nigiri (raw fish is the best fish imo), but Donburi, Udon, and pretty much everything else is excellent, too. One of my favorite Japanese restaurants makes a cheese kimchi udon in a hot stone bowl and it is one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten.
