I also dislike books written in first person. Granted, lots of third person is crap too but I think poor writing becomes more obvious in first person. “I said this, I did that” etc: everyone know what it sounds like in their own head. First person is the laziest POV and the hardest to do well.

Obviously there are amazing books written in first person. But you really have to have skill to give the narrator a distinct voice.
