*shrugs* An engagement is a commitment, but it's not that huge. I wouldn't be surprised if they call it off before they actually make it down the aisle. Married at 20 I would side-eye alongside you, though - I grew up in a super Conservative small town, and even the people I went to high school with waited until they were 22-25 to tie the knot. (I am, at 32, an old maid.)

Jake's parents were high school sweethearts who are still together, despite his dad's high profile celebrity. So maybe he comes from an environment that fosters such unusual, but long-lasting love.

They might break up. Likely. But I wouldn't assume it's doomed to fail.

She’ll survive, even if she lives to regret this choice. She’s (presumably) happy now, and I think that is something to celebrate.

I was recently going on an old fandom nostalgia kick and was really shocked to see how few fic survived. All these pre-AO3 fandoms just...gone. And trying to search through old LJ comms in hopes of finding something is too frustrating. I kept finding parts of fic but never the whole.

I don't think it's a big deal. Lots of people get married young and stupid, split up later, and go on to happier marriages when they're more mature. Now, if they were having kids that young I would be more concerned.
